Typically my mantra is if it’s not chocolate, it’s not dessert. But these sweet grilled peaches beg to differ. Peaches are in abundance right now and while they’re the perfect hand-held summertime snack, a quick visit to the grill makes them a warm, soft, crunchy, juicy adventure for the senses.
The split peaches fire away over the heat taking on those gorgeous grill marks and smoky flavor. Once the tops were sufficiently ric-racked I topped them with a little brown sugar for a caramelized effect and a sprinkling of cinnamon for some spicy flavor.
Now I certainly wouldn’t turn down such a seasonally delicious treat as is, but a scoop of vanilla ice cream really makes this a complete dessert. The cool, creaminess of the ice cream as it melts over the hot peach provides the perfect contrast of flavors and textures. Plus, look at that peach half — it’s like a little edible bowl — the perfect home for a scoop of ice cream.
